However, after the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, a tragic training accident left him quadriplegic. Life seemed to take a sharp turn, and Damien gave up on archery. But the announcement of Paris hosting the Games ignited a fire within him. Damien returned to archery with newfound passion and motivation, ready to prove himself on the world stage once more.

Now, Damien’s sights are set on Paris 2024, with the games being hosted at the historic Les Invalides—a place close to his heart, where he spent 18 months in rehabilitation after his accident. Competing there is not just a goal but a deeply personal mission. Returning to this iconic venue as a competitor, rather than a patient, signifies an incredible full-circle moment. With his family, friends, and loyal supporters cheering him on, Damien is ready to face the challenges head-on. Despite the emotional weight of competing on home soil and the pressure to perform, he’s committed to giving it his all.
